Bighorn sheep reintroduced to Pyramid Lake, Nevada

News 4 in Nevada reports that a species of bighorn sheep unique to the area surrounding Pyramid Lake is being released Monday to re-introduce them to their former land.

Sheep conservationist Larry Johnson said, “It is an extremely important reintroduction both from a wildlife standpoint, as well as a cultural standpoint for many Native American Tribes across the west.”

The Nevada Department of Wildlife says it has captured and relocated over 4,000 bighorn sheep within Nevada and throughout the United States and Canada to help restore the herd.
