The Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association President praised the United States House Monday for a series of bipartisan bills that will benefit cattle producers.
“I applaud the U.S. House of Representatives for their recent bipartisan legislation to address the concerns of cattle producers on fake meat, livestock transportation and labor,” Robert McKnight Jr. said. “These are all very important issues for our industry, and as we prepare to gather with family and friends for Thanksgiving, there is no better time to remember the crucial role agriculture plays in our society.”
The first bill introduced was the Real MEAT Act which would create a nationwide definition of beef to ensure consumers are not mislead by what it is in their food.
Additionally, last Wednesday two other bills were introduced.
The Responsible and Efficient Agriculture Destination (TREAD) Act was introduced to codify hours of service exemptions for people who transport livestock and the Farm Workforce Modernization Act which was introduced to benefit cattle producers by offering year-round workers wage relief and reduced housing costs.
