Center for Food Safety sues FDA over ‘bleeding’ meatless burgers

The Center for Food Safety sues the FDA over the approval of the color additive that makes plant-based burgers appear to “bleed” like real meat.

In a legal brief filed in federal court, the non-profit says that the approval came without the legally required long-term animal studies to determine whether it is harmful to humans.

The FDA has yet to comment on possible, pending, or ongoing litigation.
