Childcare costs are an issue for a lot of U.S. families but those problems impact nearly three-quarters of rural America.
Last year’s National Farm Families Childcare Survey talked to rural families in 47 states, and they found 74 percent have challenges with childcare, with most saying it is because of the cost and availability. They found these issues are amplified in farm family settings because of the hectic hours and time commitments.
Childcare advocates say it should be a policy issue, and they would like to see it addressed in the Farm Bill.
