It’s been twenty years since singer Paula Cole hit mainstream popularity with her wistful song, “Where Have All the Cowboys Gone.” The song cracked the top ten in 1997 and Cole earned the Best New Artist Grammy award. Now at the age of 50, the Massachusetts native is applying her unique vocal style to an album of iconic songs.
The song selections for her new album, “Ballads,” are true classics -- covered by artists for decades because the songs themselves are timeless. That might intimidate some performers, but Cole honors each song with respectful and moving interpretations.
“Ballads” will be available on August 11 and includes such classics as “Ode to Billie Joe,” “Autumn Leaves,” “You Hit the Spot,” “Body and Soul,” “What a Little Moonlight Can Do” and more.
