Closer look at tornado damage as President Biden visits Kentucky

President Joe Biden will make his way to Kentucky today to view the damage caused by what is being termed the “Quad State Tornadoes.

He will visit with survivors and offer federal assistance as communities rebuild. One tornado stretched 200 miles, destroying farms and an ag research center. That center was leading research on hemp production and end products.

The rural town of Mayfield was about wiped off the map. The storm knocked out a local grain company, a John Deere dealership, Pilgrim’s hatcheries, and the Graves County Food Bank.

Grain systems throughout western Kentucky were also damaged, along with multiple chicken houses. Livestock losses are still being counted. The Department of Ag is working with the EPA to develop plans for animal health and disposal.
