College National Finals Rodeo canceled amid COVID-19 outbreak

CNFR

The NIRA National Office announced the cancellation of the 2020 College National Finals Rodeo, which were to take place June 14 through June 20.

The office announced public safety during the COVID-19 outbreak as the reason, citing the public’s safety is the most important concern.

The CNFR Committee and the NIRA met to discuss the production of the 2020 CNFR, during these meetings it was determined that the public safety risk was too large to not make an immediate decision on the rodeo.

In a press release, the NIRA National Office said, “This is devastating for all of us, but mostly for the NIRA athletes. We share your grief. This is unprecedented. May we all heal, extend grace and recover to a better world. We are all in this together and we are praying for our rodeo families.”
