Connecticut dairy farm makes large milk donation to food distribution site

One of Connecticut’s largest dairy farms has made a donation of milk for the second week in a row reports WTNH News.

This comes as several dairy farmers and producers are being forced to dump milk after restaurants and schools closed down.

A local sports field in Connecticut has been turned into a food distribution center, and generally, when you begin distributing food, milk is not included because it needs to be refrigerated.

On Wednesday, Guida’s Dairy donated 50 half gallons to Foodshare. Volunteers handed them out to cars driving through the site.

Guida’s Dairy is just one of the more than 100 dairy farms in the state that are making milk but running into distribution issues due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The state is continuing to look into ways to help people have access to perishable products like the milk Guida’s Dairy donated.
