Payments have slowed down for the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program. So far, $4.86 billion dollars has gone out, that is roughly $851 million dollars in just the last week, but more than $1 billion dollars was paid out two weeks ago.
About half of the financial aid has been for the livestock sector.
Iowa farmers account for more than 10 percent of total payments. Economists say that the total impact of the pandemic on agriculture will not be fully known until the new crop hits the market in the fall.
