Cotton Council wants specific language in the next COVID aid package

Cotton producers are urging lawmakers for textile-specific language in the next aid package. It would direct the USDA to assist cotton textile mills and merchandisers.

“Specific to the agriculture provisions in this next COVID relief package, Cotton Council is continuing to push for our industry developed recommendation that would provide assistance for producers, also to merchandisers and textile manufacturers,” Reece Langley, VP of operations for the National Cotton Council, said. “However, the language that was included in the initial, Senate Republican proposal was much more general in nature and essentially just covered producers and processors.”
