Cowboy Stories: Jade Corkill

Representing the state of Nevada in the team roping on the heeling side at The American on March 2 in AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas will be current world champion Jade Corkill of Fallon. At age 26 Corkill has roped his way to nearly $1.2 million in earnings and notched back-to-back world titles. Corkill’s rodeo career began early in the ranks of the National High School Rodeo Association where he captured state titles in Nevada in both the team roping and the tie-down. Steadily climbing the ranks, Corkill earned the PRCA Team Roping Rookie of the Year title in 2006 in heeling. His horse, Fine Snip Of Doc, aka Cave Man, was voted AQHA/PRCA Team Roping Heeling Horse of the Year in 2010 and 2012. In 2010 he won team roping titles at both the famed Pendleton Round-up and Salinas heeling for Chad Masters. In 2009, roping with Masters, Corkill won Round 9 of the National Finals Rodeo with a world-record time of 3.3 seconds.

Corkill and his wife, Haley, have one son, Colby. He lists his favorite rodeo as the California Rodeo in Salinas.
