Agriculture groups urge the President to reconsider his decision to increase travel and trade restrictions with Cuba. The groups are asking Trump not to close the doors on new market opportunities when the farm economy is struggling. President Trump officially pulled back on parts of the previous administration’s policy, banning Americans from doing business with Cuba’s military and affiliated companies that control wide swaths of the nation’s economy. This exempts ports and keeps the embassy open. Cuba imports 2 billion dollars worth of food each year, of which only 200 million dollars worth comes from the United States.
