A father and his 9-year daughter tragically died in a hunting accident in South Carolina on New Year’s Day, according to multiple reports.
South Carolina Department of Natural Resources officials said Thursday that four hunters were trying to move deer, also known as driving deer when two were shot after being mistaken for a deer.
The accident happened in a rural area of forest and farmland about 45 miles from Charleston, state officials said.
Local Fire and Rescue officials told WCSC News that 30-year-old Kim Drawdy and his 9-year-old daughter Lauren Drawdy died in the incident.
Both of the deceased will have autopsies on Sunday.
