Dairy leader set long-term sustainability goals to create economic opportunities. According to the National Milk Producers Federation, the initiative includes, emissions, water quality, and nutrient management.
To meet these goals, the industry plans to gather data, conduct tests, and partner with investors to fund research projects.
“The fact that we are going to look for outside investors and others to help us for grants and other partners...that’s one pathway to our goal is through a net zero initiative...we’re going to need partners to help figure this out,” Krysta Harden with Dairy Management Inc. said.
The dairy industry plans to meet these sustainability goals by 2050.
