DOJ: Monsanto pleads guilty to 30 environmental crimes

Several new developments in charges against Monsanto. In one case, the company pleaded guilty to 30 environmental crimes.

The Justice Department said that the company stored a banned pesticide and used it on cornfields in Hawaii. Monsanto will pay a $12 million dollar fine, and continue an environmental compliance program for the three years it is on probation.

In a separate case, the Supreme Court asked the DOJ to weigh in on a Roundup dispute. Monsanto is appealing a $25 million dollar ruling that found them liable for a man’s Non-Hodkin’s lymphoma.
