Drought is causing transportation issues in Brazil

Drought conditions and low water levels are slowing down grain exports leaving the world’s largest soy exporting country.

Transportation is at a standstill on the Madeira River in Brazil. It is a major waterway for grains leaving the Mato Grosso state. Last year it carried around 34 percent of Brazil’s soy exports and over 40 percent of corn.

The issues have raised costs for exporters, but ag leaders there say most farmers have already shipped most of their grains for the year.
