Economic Leverage: Special House Committee could raise tariffs on China

Farm groups continue to examine a proposal to raise tariffs on one of the most critical markets for U.S. soybeans.

A special House Committee is looking to restore economic leverage against China. The group says they are not looking to revoke China’s trade status, but instead are looking to hold them accountable.

Representative Darin LaHood says the group will work with the House Ways and Means Committee to find an appropriate balance. Their report warns the U.S. should prepare for trade retaliation against U.S. ag exports.
