Electric co-ops call on Congress to offer relief to rural residents

Rural electric coops are calling on Congress to provide debt relief to aid rural communities negatively impacted by pandemic disruptions.

CEO of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, Jim Matheson speaks with RFD-TV’s own Tammi Arender on the impact of COVID on rural co-ops, the legislation they are focusing on, and the next steps.

“We’ve seen the impact in terms of a lot of people having a little more trouble paying their electric bills these days. A lot of people are unemployed, certain sectors have been hurt... those have been the primary impacts,” Matheson explains.
