EPA grants three last minute small refinery waivers, RFA set to challenge

The EPA granted three small refinery exemptions in the last hours of the Andrew Wheeler leadership.

These waivers account for more than 250 million lost gallons of renewable fuels and one of the waivers had been previously denied.

The Renewable Fuels Association plans to challenge the decision. Their President and CEO Geoff Cooper says, “This midnight-hour attempt by the Trump administration to damage the Renewable Fuel Standard and sabotage the ethanol industry’s recovery from the COVID pandemic simply cannot be allowed to prevail.”
