Ethanol plants are producing more fuel and less feed, according to economists

The University of Illinois says ethanol plants are producing more fuel per bushel of corn but smaller amounts of dried distiller grains which is a feed source for livestock.

More fuel and less feed are coming out of U.S. ethanol plants.

The University of Illinois says ethanol plants are producing more fuel per bushel of corn but smaller amounts of dried distiller grains which is a feed source for livestock. The plants are producing more corn oil, though, which goes towards bio-diesel production.

The efficiency has increased revenue by $0.28 per bushel, or 4 percent since 2015.
