Fast off launching his co-headline tour with fellow American Idol finalist Will Moseley last night at Exit/In in Nashville, TN, RFD-TV has the exclusive first look to Colin Stough’s brand new music video “Outside Lookin’ In” off his latest EP, Lookin’ For Home with the help of West Webb and Luke Lowder.

“This EP is really special to me. I connect with every song on this project, and I’m so grateful for the writers who came together and helped me make this body of work what it is. It’s a pretty good reflection of me and my different personalities too...‘Makes Two of Us’ and ‘Outside Lookin’ In’ are the relationship songs, and relationships are usually where I find myself struggling with my demons the most...” shares Stough.

From Colin: “This video embodies the feeling of the song perfectly. It lives in that uneasy space between trust and doubt, when you’re not sure if the person you fell in love with is the same person today. West and Luke worked their magic to bring this story to life and I’m happy with how it turned out.”

From Luke: We wanted the video to have a certain texture and grit to it, while still feeling beautiful and cinematic. The song is about the inner dialogue a person has when contemplating confronting their partner about their suspicious behavior. The video floats between the past and the present, so the lenses needed to have a nostalgic feel and the vintage lenses we found were the best option to capture that look. The edges of the lenses were slightly distorted and out of focus in a visually striking way that felt cinematic but had a slightly surreal effect especially when capturing close-ups of Colin. It felt like the outside world and his relationship were slipping away from him. Our choice in gear and in story were inspired by the powerful and raspy texture in Colin’s voice and lyrics. We were always striving to match his style visually and we are very happy with how things turned out.

From West: I immediately went to work on finding a vintage camper and could not find any locations that had that. I ended up on Facebook Marketplace and found the perfect camper, but it was for sale. I reached out and asked if we could rent their camper for a day instead of purchasing it. They kindly replied ‘yes!’ I got on the phone with them, and the granddaughter of the grandparents who owned it, told me it would be an amazing way to commemorate their memory. She and her grandfather dropped it off at our location and requested Colin to sign the interior which he did! It was a beautiful experience.
