NASHVILLE, Tenn (RFD-TV) H.R.2, the 2018 farm bill, made it to the House floor on Wednesday, and debate reconvened today preceding the vote scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. For members on both sides of the aisle, the stakes are high.
General debate on the bill ended Wednesday evening, with Thursday and Friday reserved for discussing amendments on the floor. House Ag Chairman Mike Conaway has not yet confirmed that he has the votes to pass the bill Friday afternoon. If the legislation receives 218 votes, and passes out of the House tomorrow, all eyes will turn to the Senate Ag Committee, which is expected to roll out its own draft in the coming weeks.
