As lawmakers race to keep the government open, experts predict the challenges of implementing a Farm Bill will go beyond a possible shutdown. RFD-TV’s Sarah Mock reports. The recent shutdown halted many USDA activities – including 2018 Farm Bill implementation. But experts say not all programs were offline. Collin Peterson, the Chairman of the House Ag Committee, says beyond getting new programs in place and convincing dairy farmers to give them a second look, he’s concerned about local USDA officials knowing how to sign producers up for all the available programs. He plans to personally look into the issue in the coming weeks.
