For the first time since 2007, food insecurity declined across the country and it has now reached a level of 11.1 percent, according to the American Farm Bureau Federation.
In rural areas, food insecurity is at 12.7 percent from 15 percent in 2016.
“Despite this progress, work remains to be done, which is why state and county Farm Bureaus across the nation continue to fight hunger in local communities,” the Farm Bureau said.
In a news release, the organization highlighted its initiatives in multiple states.
