NASHVILLE, Tenn (RFD-TV) Farm leaders from across the country are in Washington to appeal to lawmakers on trade before another planting season gets underway. RFD-TV’s Sarah Mock has that perspective from the Nation’s Capital. Sorghum growers say they’re hopeful about talks with Chinese negotiators in D.C. this week. Though Carson says the new Farm Bill provides some support that farmers need to weather further trade talks, the measure’s timeline for implementation is uncertain. As trade impacts seem certain to stretch into 2019, Grassley says he’s unaware of any further trade aid programs that may be available in the future. In recent years, the Chinese market has absorbed as much as 75% of sorghum crop grown in the U.S., and along with soybeans and pork, has been one of the sectors most impacted by the ongoing trade dispute.
