FarmHer Walks Again after Life-Changing Accident

(NASHVILLE, TENN. — May 10, 2019) FarmHer is back with new episodes on RFD-TV. The network’s original series highlights another powerful group of women in its 3rd season with host Marji Guyler-Alaniz at the helm.

On Friday, meet Carey Portell from St. James, Missouri who overcomes challenges daily to raise her cattle. Eight years ago, a drunk driver hit the vehicle carrying Carey and two of her daughters. The impact crushed both her ankles and broke her pelvis.

“The only way I can think to describe how bad it was, was that it hurt even to exist at that point,” said Portell.

They didn’t think Carey would ever be able to walk again, but several surgeries later, she can. Hear her inspiring story of resilience. Watch FarmHer on Friday, May 17 at 9:30 p.m. ET on RFD-TV.

About FarmHer:
FarmHer was founded in 2013 to change the image of agriculture, depicting women taking an active role in the industry through photographs and by sharing their stories. It quickly became clear that women in agriculture not only appreciated FarmHer, but they needed it. And they asked for more. Today, FarmHer has grown into much more than just a gallery of images; it is changing the way people perceive a farmer. Through an online community, events, and a weekly TV show, FarmHer continues to update the image of agriculture to include women. Women are rising to the forefront of agriculture and FarmHer is excited to be a driving force behind this effort. Learn more at FarmHer.com.
