Actor Gary Sinise, a longtime supporter of military members and their families, was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor Society’s Patriot Award, the highest honor given out by the organization.

Sinise has often said that after 9/11, he wanted to devote more time to helping the men and women who serve our country.

Through his foundation, Sinise does a variety of work for our nation’s veterans including mental health initiatives, getting disabled veterans custom homes and vehicles, providing financial support to military families, bridging the gap between civilians and soldiers through arts, entertainment, and education, and much more.

He also recently flew 1,700 children of military families to Disney World for Christmas.

“Congratulations to our great friend, an even greater person, @GarySinise for this high honor! Well-deserved!” The American Veterans Center tweeted.
