Grassley: Impeachment process could help pass USMCA

Congress is back in session and there are only 7 weeks left this year to get the U.S. Mexico Canada agreement passed.

Democrats are pushing up their efforts to impeach President Trump and there’s speculation it could interfere with USMCA’s ratification, but the Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley says the impeachment process might help get it passed in the long run.

“I’m going to assume that, with impeachment, it’s not all positive for Democrats to pursue that line of attack…but assuming they do, and I think they’re going to, then they’re surely going to want to show some progress on legislating some important things…and, so, consequently, move along on USMCA.”

Senator Grassley says Speaker Of The House Nancy Pelosi told reporters before the break that she wanted to work with the President on the deal and prescription drug pricing. Studies show USMCA is worth more than 2 billion dollars in new ag export sales.
