Grizzly restoration in Northern Cascades causes concern from USCA

Agencies attempt to restore a grizzly bear population into the Northern Cascades ecosystem, and the United States Cattlemen’s Association is less than thrilled.

The plan aims to bring 200 grizzly bears into Washington. USCA’s Public Lands Committee Co-chair, Jack Alexander, says the plan uses the endangered species act as a tool to promote range expansion for a non-threatened species. He says it also fails to take into account stakeholder concerns regarding the safety and well-being of families, neighbors, and livestock.
