Half Way To 3 Million: Colorado River water cuts to remain in place next year

Colorado River water cuts will remain in place next year following new projections from the Bureau of Reclamation.

The agency says that states located in the lower Colorado River Basin are likely to remain in level-one storage conditions next year. This means Arizona will need to conserve 512,000 acre-feet of water while Nevada will need to conserve 21,000.

Those states as well as California are already on track to conserve a total of 1.5 million acre-feet of water by the end of 2024.
That is half of the agreement to conserve 3 million acre-feet by 2026.
