Healthy Food and Racial Equity: New coalition asks Biden to implement new federal food service guidelines

A call for the Biden Administration to align its Federal Food Service with its values.

The newly formed Federal Good Food Purchasing Coalition sent a letter to President Biden asking for an exclusive order to be issued that would encourage healthy and safe food while addressing environmental concerns.

They are also asking for racial equity in food service and protection for workers. This all comes from guidelines established at last fall’s hunger conference.

The federal government purchases $8.8 billion dollars worth of food each year.
