This Sunday, Americans across the country will honor their moms in a variety of ways. Some will get brunch and flowers or maybe jewelry. Others will receive perfectly imperfect handmade crafts and cards signed in crayon. Mother’s Day lets us express our love and gratitude for the mom’s who’ve nurtured and supported us - even while fighting their own battles.
The Isaacs family understands this lesson well. Back in the early 1980s, matriarch Lily Isaacs was diagnosed with breast cancer. While caring for her three young children, she underwent a mastectomy and thankfully went on to a full recovery.
Years later, her daughter Sonya (along with her husband Jimmy Yeary) honored Lily by using her story to write, “I’m Gonna Love You Through It.” The song became a hit for country superstar Martina McBride, who described the song as one of her favorites.
Celebrate the love for mothers everywhere and watch this special, moving performance by The Isaacs.
