Nashville, TN — Junior country sensations Homegrown Kids have answered #TheGitUpChallenge with their own recorded version and video in response to the country/hip-hop crossover dance craze.
In case you’ve been hiding under a rock for the past six weeks or so, #TheGitUpChallenge was created by country rapper Blanco Brown, as explained here, and has since taken the world (or at least the internet) by storm. Generating 32.2 million digital streams and 2 billion viral video views and counting, this TrailerTrap track is still growing beyond comprehension while it is currently the #1 Top Country Single, #1 Country Stream, #1 Country Shazam, and the list of impressive achievements goes on.
Needless to say, the Homegrown Kids wasted no time before participating in this “challenge”. Their video displays the many layers and talents of the Homegrown Kids while also showing that Country music is all encompassing. The Homegrown Kids are a diverse, inclusive group of youngsters who represent a wide range of ages, backgrounds, and ethnicities. Each song on both of their albums has a positive message with the hopes that children along with adults can be impacted by the songs they release while also having fun.
Conceived and crafted by hit songwriter and producer Ross Copperman, BBR Music Group/BMG’s Homegrown Kids Country Volume 1 (2018) presented Country in a fresh way – with kids singing a fun mix of current chart-toppers and longtime favorites, all in family-friendly style. On their recently released sophomore album, Homegrown Kids ‘90s Country, the group pays homage to 90s country, featuring smash hits from the “good” decade like “Wide Open Spaces” and “Should’ve Been a Cowboy.” ‘90s Country is expected to introduce kids to the Country hits that take us back to the days of “meeting in the middle underneath that Georgia pine.” Produced by Dana Anderson and David Wise and executive produced by Copperman, each track was professionally recorded with a hand-selected group of youth singers – plus Nashville’s world-class musicians and studios – highlighting the song’s essence in unexpected ways. With a positive message embedded throughout each song, ‘90s Country, is perfect for bringing families together and inspiring children to make their world a better place.
Inspired by his own kids’ love of music, Copperman created this project out of a desire to provide Country music that kids will relate to and enjoy (as well as their parents). Copperman is one of the most prolific and influential songwriters working in Country today with almost twenty Country No. 1 hits to his credit. He is also the reigning BMI Songwriter of the Year (2016 and 2017), the winner of 5 CMA Triple Play Awards (CMA honor for songwriters who have penned three No. 1 songs in a 12-month period) and the producer of chart-topping hits for some of Country’s biggest stars.
