A since-deleted Facebook post of a horse being tied to and dragged behind a pickup truck for about a minute has sparked outrage and animal abuse investigations in Colorado.

The Grand County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation Sunday after getting many tips about the video, which occurred at a local ranch. They are currently being aided in the investigation by the State’s 14th Judicial District Attorney, Animal Control and the Colorado Humane Society.

According to Sheriff Brett Schroetlin, a veterinarian went with deputies to check on the horse Monday and saw no obvious signs of trauma. The vet however did say the horse was “tender” and it was given pain medications.

The horse has been transferred to the Colorado Humane Society where it will be monitored further.

The owners of the horse are cooperating with the investigation.
