Horse rescued from deep mud in Massachusetts

Crew members from three different departments helped rescue a horse that was stuck on its side in deep mud on Tuesday.

The 13-year-old horse named Libby was pulled out of the mud by a rear actor and then crews were able to get her to her feet.

Libby and her owner both suffered minor injuries.

“It was difficult due to the fact of brush. There was a lot of brush in the area, so we had to clear that, get the backhoe in there and they were able to get it in in an angle and lift the horse up and out and move it to an area,” Hanson Fire Chief Jerome Thompson told WJAR.

The call originally came into the Hanson Fire Department, which received assistance from the Plymouth County Technical Rescue Team and the Duxbury Fire Department.
