As the pandemic of COVID-19 continues to ravage the country, some farmers are worried what the virus might mean for the spring planting season. Dr. Jeffrey Gold and Dr. Angela Hewlett, from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, think the change in temperatures may have a positive affect, however that is not certain.
Dr. Gold states that warmer weather helps in lowering the spread of infectious diseases. He says that, like the common cold, the COVID-19 may be affected by seasonal changes. According to Dr. Hewlett, “There is definitely a chance that this will dissipate or at least we’ll start to see a lot less cases as things get warmer and we hopes that’s the case.” Dr. Hewlett goes on to say that there are many factors that can and will affect the virus’s course, but there is still much unknown about this particular virus.
