Industry leaders are hopeful legislation will green light more access to E15 fuel

The biofuels industry is hopeful a solution is nearing for year-round E15 sales.

Legislation has been introduced in both the House and Senate, but the industry also wants some help from EPA. Eight Midwestern governors recently filed a petition and hope a proposed rule will be out in the coming months that would be finalized in time for the summer driving season.

Minnesota Biofuels Association’s Executive Director, Brian Werner tells Brownfield Ag News that progress on the Governor’s petition should give more leverage for those pushing for year-round sales.

“Although there’s a lot of movement towards this Midwest Governors’ solution, there’s also a need to get something done on a nationwide basis.”
