Despite the many trials farmers have faced this growing season, Iowa’s crop potential is still holding up.
The recent derecho that swept across the northeastern portion of the state caused minimal crop damage. However, the rain that came with it did cause some late-planted corn to suffer.
Greensnap is evident in southcentral and southeastern Iowa.
Luckily, Extension professionals say that disease pressure has been low so far. The most common corn disease right now is rust. In soybeans, specialists are seeing frogeye leaf spot and bacterial blight.
