Iowa Gov. signs biofuel bill to support state’s corn growers

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds signed a bill into law to lower state taxes on higher blends of biofuels. The legislation will lower prices at the pump to drive up consumption and support the state’s corn farmers.

During a press conference, Gov. Reynolds thanked lawmakers on both sides of the aisle for collaborating and passing the bill. Gov. Reynolds stated, “These have been some extremely challenging times for the ethanol industry and agriculture in general. Even before COVID-19, we’ve been dealing with trade issues and bureaucrats in Washington DC, who seem focused on putting the interest of big oil ahead of the interest of Iowa farmers. I want to assure you that you have a team of fighters working to protect all the progress the biofuel industry has made.”
