Wheat harvest is officially underway in the midst of the heat!
A farmer in north-central Missouri shared with Farm Progress that the dry conditions were ideal for getting hay cut and dried, but she is still a week or so away from wheat harvest on her operation.
Meanwhile, a little north of her in Kansas, Alex Noll who farms in Jefferson County wrapped up harvesting wheat two weeks early and is not getting his double-crop soybeans in the ground.
Last week’s crop progress report showed that Kansas wheat conditions are currently rated 25% very poor to poor, 71% fair to good. Missouri is 95% fair to excellent, and Nebraska is rated 28% poor to fair and 72% good to excellent.
The latest progress report comes out this afternoon.
