Farmers and ranchers could soon see an all-electric tractor from John Deere.
The “Big Green Tractor” maker hopes to have one available as soon as 2026. It comes as the company looks to tackle alternative energy for its machines, saying customers are looking for sustainable solutions.
Deere plans to speed electric fleet production by adding a battery production facility here in the U.S. within the coming years, but it is not just electric they are focused on. Deere is also working on a more energy-efficient diesel engine capable of reducing fuel usage by as much as 10 percent, even 20 percent when run on biofuels.
