Work at several key ag shipping ports could halt if labor negotiations are not finalized by the end of the month.
At a meeting between the International Longshoremen’s Association and the U.S. Maritime Alliance, around 300 delegates voted to strike if a new contract is not reached by October 1st. 25,000 dock workers are calling for a more fair labor contract. This would impact ports along the East and Gulf Coasts, as well as the Great Lakes.
Those ports are responsible for moving ag shipments like containers, machinery, and frozen meats.
