Land in U.S. farms has declined by 74.7 million acres between 1997 and 2022

Land in U.S. farms has declined by 75 million acres over the past 25 years with pastureland making up the majority of those losses. It comes following a pivotal change in U.S. ag policy that took place in the 1996 Farm Bill.

Dr. Gary Schnitkey with the University of Illinois spoke with RFD-TV’s own Suzanne Alexander on the drop in farmland, contributing factors, and if these trends will continue.
