Lawmakers have started new efforts to create a Federal Food Administration

Several top lawmakers are looking to establish a new government administration, separating several entities from the FDA.

They are looking to start a Federal Food Administration. Under the proposed move, several groups would branch away from the FDA including the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition, the Center for Veterinary Medicine, and the Office of Food Policy and Response.

Sponsors of the move say it would help improve oversight of the food supply. Similar measures have been offered up before, including in 2022 as well as 2023.
