RFD-TV’s Corryn La Rue reports that lawmakers are pushing for new legislature called the Every Worker Protection Act. This bill would force the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to make a rule requiring employer to keep their workers safe.
According to Rep. Donna Shalala, from Florida and supporter of the bill, "[The] meat packing industry has to have infection control, along with strong standards to protect their workers.” Rep. Shalala goes on to say, “If they’re not protecting their workers, and they don’t have infection control and they don’t have protective equipment, employers are going to have to close down all meat packing plants in the United State.”
