Lee Mendelson producer of “Peanuts” specials dies at age 86

After a battle with cancer, Lee Mendelson passed away at age 86 on Christmas day.

Mendelson was the producer behind dozens of “Peanuts” specials including a “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving,” and “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.”

Mendelson won an Emmy Award for “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and one won 12 total.


He is survived by his wife Ploenta and four children as well as his stepson and his eight grandchildren.
