Less Severe Than Expected: Update on Missouri River flooding

Heavy rainfall has caused devastating floods along major waterways in the Midwest, including the Missouri River.

Flood warnings have been put into effect through next week, but luckily the impacts have been less severe than expected.
However, videos posted to X show the extent of the water rising, carrying with it large debris.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Omaha has limited releases from Gavin’s Point Dam on the South Dakota-Nebraska border in an effort to ease flooding along the lower Missouri.

The National Weather Service in Omaha provided its latest update early this morning, sharing that the Missouri River has crested at Decatur with water levels going down. Minor to moderate flooding is still forecasted to persist into early July.
That area is also expected scattered showers and thunderstorms today.
