Maersk anticipates container movement to fall by as much as 4% this year

An indicator of economic health is starting to point down after a major shipping company reported a decline in demand.

Global container shipper Maersk says they expect the movement to slow down by as much as 4 percent this year, and the CEO says they do not expect that to stop anytime soon. They move products for large companies like WalMart and Nike.

He says they expected movement to pick back up a couple of months ago but that never happened. Last week, executives at trucking firm JB Hunt said they believe the U.S. is in a freight recession with fewer trucks making deliveries across the United States.
