Mahindra Salutes America’s First Responders in Partnership with RFD-TV

Masontown, WV, Volunteer Fire Department Receives Mahindra Utility Vehicle

(NASHVILLE, TENN. — December 6th, 2017) Mahindra North America and RFD-TV have selected the Volunteer Fire Department of Masontown, West Virginia, as the winner of the “Salute to First Responders” essay contest. Based on the nomination by Donna Montgomery, the mother of Fire Chief Matt Montgomery, this group was chosen from among the hundreds of communities entering the contest. The Mahindra utility vehicle will provide reliable transportation to better access the area around the Cheat River when the department is called out on rescues.

“It has been our pleasure to partner with Mahindra in highlighting the importance of first responders in our communities. We appreciate the hundreds of people that took time to nominate the many deserving first responder organizations,” said Patrick Gottsch, Founder, and President of RFD-TV and Rural Media Group.

“We have greatly enjoyed working with RFD-TV to recognize the value of first responder organizations in our communities. We were overwhelmed by the responses, by the number and the need that is out there and the stories that were shared,” said Cleo Franklin, CMO/VP-Strategic Planning. “Mahindra North America is driven by the Rise philosophy which includes driving positive change and we are pleased to put action to these words by giving a Mahindra Retriever utility vehicle to this deserving group of volunteer firefighters serving the community of Masontown, West Virginia.”

Masontown VFD is in the unique position of being a small volunteer fire department with large rescue situations. Within MVFD’s area is the Cheat River, including a secluded and difficult to access area around this whitewater river. They have responded to a variety of rescue and medical calls with high demand in the summer months. The Mahindra Retriever utility vehicle will provide a dependable vehicle to search the gorge and river for drowning and accident victims.
