Man arrested for riding horse onto Chicago highway faces felony animal cruelty charges

The Chicago man known as the “Dreadhead Cowboy” who was arrested for riding a horse onto the Dan Ryan Expressway Monday has another charge: felony animal cruelty.

The Illinois State Police confirmed Tuesday night that the man, who’s real name is Adam Hollinsworth, that the Cook County Attorney’s Office had added animal cruelty to his list of charges. Hollinsworth, 33, was also charged with reckless conduct, trespassing and disobeying a police officer.

The horse Hollingsworth was riding, NuNu, sustained injuries to its hooves and the side of its body during the 7-mile ride on asphalt.

The horse is in the custody of Chicago Animal Care and Control.
